This project is contract work done for Channing’s Childhood Services website. This service provides daycare and summer daycare for children in the west side of Chicago. My task is to create a design concept and then implement it into a full website using WIX.
The previous design issues
Hierarchy
The Hierarchy of images and text had no organization and symmetry. This makes reading the information quickly more difficult.
Navigation
Navigating the website was difficult. There was no way to distinguish what page you were previously on, or where to click next off of a first glance.
Quality
The website featured poor quality images and an outdated design. This website was made around 2015, and was rarely ever updated. The user requirements have also evolved over the years.
The Redesign Concept
To counter the issues listed above, created a redesign that focuses on user experience and the requirements the client requested. My goal was to create a UI that was simple and to the point to get information that’s important to the user.
I researched other daycare/child services websites to get inspiration for colors and formatting. This kind of website needs to have a nurturing, safe, and learning feel to make parents confident that Channing’s Child care services is the right place to take care of their children.
I incorporated images that reflect the demographic. Most of the children that attend Channing’s are African American or Hispanic. The colors I chose are both bright and sophisticated.
The Final Design
After receiving feedback from the client and peers, I incorporated the design into Wix.
